There’s so much on the go with COVID-19 that it’s helpful to know there are scientists willing to share their knowledge. Especially in ways we can understand without having to Google phrases. We discovered a great podcast and were keen to share it on our blog. So without further ado, drum roll please for Vincent Racaniello and his amazing co-hosts!

The Brain Behind This Week in Virology

Vincent Racaniello is a Professor of Microbiology and Immunology in the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University. He has been conducting laboratory research into viruses since 1975. That was when he began his doctorate at Mount Sinai School of Medicine of the City University of New York. His topic was influenza viruses back then, and his interest has continued unabated. In fact, his podcast covering this week in virology has become an influencer in his field.

Racaniello is not alone in his efforts however as he is joined by Dickson Despommier, Alan Dove, Brianne Barker, Rich Condit, Kathy Spindler, and Brianne Barker as his wonderful co-hosts on the TWiV podcast.

I tripped over a shrinking bank balance and fell into the writing gig unintentionally. This was after I escaped the corporate world and searched in vain for ways to become rich on the internet by doing nothing. Despite the fact that writing is no recipe for wealth, I rather enjoy it. I will not deny I am obsessed with it when I have the time. I live in Margate on the Kwazulu-Natal south coast of South Africa. I work from home where I ponder on the future of the planet, and what lies beyond in the great hereafter. Sometimes I step out of my computer into the silent riverine forests, and empty golden beaches for which the area is renowned. Richard
