The Right Face Mask For A Smarter Virus

We’ve come a long way from when we believed COVID-19 was a type of influenza that would go away. We purchased a cheap face mask from the corner store back then, and we wore it to be trendy. Some early designs let much of the virus through floating in the air. Since then we know better, and shop for the right face mask for a smarter virus. Our stores are full of choices but which one is right?

Is the Virus Really Getting Smarter?

Smart means intelligent and able to learn quickly according to Oxford Learner’s Dictionary. The respiratory virus does not think the way we do, it is in fact a dumb compound of chemicals. However, it seems remarkably able to get past our defenses, and keep the pandemic rolling.

Times of India explained this process in their post of September 19, 2021. Their author relates how new variants could eventually evade our vaccines, and attack us in more concentrated forms. We can save ourselves time and trouble by keeping them out our lungs. The roads to this begins with not breathing them in.

The Right Face Mask For A Smarter Virus

Scientists at University of Maryland researched the effectiveness of face masks using their Gesundheit II bio aerosol collector. They were able to conclusively show how loose-fitting masks only provide ‘modest emission control’ in the case of people with the infection. They estimate loose-fitting cloth and surgical masks may only interrupt half the spread.

Study co-author Dr. Jennifer German believes the chances of viral spread reduce, with improved ventilation, increased filtration, UV air sanitation, and a right tight-fitting face mask for a smarter virus. Therefore, for as long as people refuse vaccination we must do away with our loose-fitting ones.  For the sake of our own, and other people’s health, that is.

This was after I escaped the corporate world and searched in vain for ways to become rich on the internet by doing nothing. Despite the fact that writing is no recipe for wealth, I rather enjoy it. I will not deny I am obsessed with it when I have the time. I live in Margate on the Kwazulu-Natal south coast of South Africa. I work from home where I ponder on the future of the planet, and what lies beyond in the great hereafter. Sometimes I step out of my computer into the silent riverine forests, and empty golden beaches for which the area is renowned. Richard
