We can learn a thing or two from other nations in the forefront of the campaign to vaccinate their entire population. But they don’t always agree on the road forward after they make a good start. United Kingdom and Norway are relaxing controls in a drive to return to normal. While Israel has a Green Pass system restricting those without vaccines from certain crowded areas. On September 26 it decided recovered patients require a shot to pass through those entrances too.
Which Areas Are Currently Restricted in Israel?
Israel requires its residents and visitors to have green pass vaccination certificate before entering certain crowded areas. These places include restaurants, gyms, theaters, and places of worship. This restriction remains valid until the end of 2021. The procedure for obtaining an Israeli Green Pass has previously been as follows:
1… One week must pass after having a second dose of an approved vaccine.
2… The vaccine passport is available through a phone app, or on the internet.
3… The Green Pass includes a two-dimensional QR code for verification.
However, the system has been now been extended to allow previously infected people to participate. But there is an additional requirement for them.
Those Recovered Patients Require a Single Shot to Qualify
The Israeli government previously restricted access to certain businesses and events. The criteria included (a) proof of vaccination, (b) recovery from COVID-19, or (c) a negative test result. However, the new rules require recovered patients to have a single shot of an approved vaccine too.
This rule affects those with a COVID-19 diagnosis, or positive serological test showing high antibodies. The single shot will allow them to apply for their Green Pass in future. However, this arrangement will only come into effect on a future date. This will be when anyone who has not received a booster shot, six months after getting a second vaccine dose will have their Green Pass revoked.
But his new policy will apply to school teachers from October 3, 2021. ‘Not being able to work due to not having a Green Pass will be considered an unjustified absence that does not warrant being paid,’ according to the Education Ministry.
