Time to Act As If We Already Have the Virus

We usually breathe in and out through our noses, so the airflow does not obstruct our talking and eating. Hence, if we do catch the coronavirus we are most likely to have inhaled it that way. However, we are more likely to expel the virus for a distance, if we are coughing, laughing, shouting, and so on. It’s no longer sufficient to protect ourselves. It is time to act as if we already have the virus.

UK Government Agrees Time to Act As If We Have the Virus

The City of London, and surrounding districts have the worst COVID-19 infection rate we have known. The only explanation we can imagine beyond the new coronavirus strain, is the people are not complying with the rules. Prime Minister Boris Johnson insists the public should ‘stay at home’ and not get complacent.

BBC expects a new UK response will shift to ‘more focus from police on enforcing, rather than explaining rules’. What can we learn from a great city in pandemic crisis facing a bleak winter, where extreme cold is possible given climate change?

Come to Terms With, Accept and Behave Like Agents of the Disease

We are getting past the point of ignoring we are part of great humanity. A blow to one is a blow to all of us. The vaccines will not prevent us getting infected or passing the virus on. However, scientists are hoping they will suppress the symptoms of the disease.

Surely it’s time to act as if we already have the virus? That’s because we may never realize we have it, especially after we have our jabs. Our nations have stood together against trials and tribulations in the past. It’s time to face up to the fact we are in the midst of an infected crowd, right now.

I tripped over a shrinking bank balance and fell into the writing gig unintentionally. This was after I escaped the corporate world and searched in vain for ways to become rich on the internet by doing nothing. Despite the fact that writing is no recipe for wealth, I rather enjoy it. I will not deny I am obsessed with it when I have the time. I live in Margate on the Kwazulu-Natal south coast of South Africa. I work from home where I ponder on the future of the planet, and what lies beyond in the great hereafter. Sometimes I step out of my computer into the silent riverine forests, and empty golden beaches for which the area is renowned. Richard
