Our understanding of COVID-19 increases with experience. In early days we believed young people were exempt from symptoms, and soon recovered from mild infections. However, news is now trickling through that some young people are developing Long COVID too. This is a debilitating syndrome that steals away their zest for life.

Hard Evidence Young People Are Developing Long COVID

“We have hard evidence … Long COVID exists,” Dr. Jill Roberts told ABC Action News on March 28, 2022. She is Associate Professor at USF College of Public Health, and a respected medical professional. It seems everyone, including young people are open to contracting the chronic long haul syndrome.

Moreover, people developing associated heart palpitations and brain fog display differences in their spinal fluids. And this confirms their mental symptoms are grounded in physical changes to their nervous systems.

“Everybody thought no, it will be the severe cases, it will be the hospitalized cases that get it,” Jill continues. “We expected they would be people who are elderly who already had mental decline. However, that is not what the data indicates.” Young people are developing Long COVID too.

I Want You to Know This Is a Very Real Problem

Jill wants North America to know that young people in their twenties are reporting brain fog. She says they are showing cognitive decline we may see in people in their seventies. Therefore relying on our immune systems may turn out to be ill-judged, she adds.

Moreover, we understand between 10% and 30% of people who catch COVID-19 may develop Long COVID later. She believes it is best to consult a doctor if we suspect we might have it. Our scientists do not yet have a solution to the problem. However, when we know the truth we can start to deal with it.
