New research found an association with impaired function of the right side of the heart among critical COVID patients. University of Glasgow participated in the project that involved National Health Service professionals at 10 intensive care units in Scotland. Their study of 121 gravely ill patients there found a third had impaired heart function with severe COVID-19

However, the abnormality they noted affected the right side of the patient’s hearts only. Now the right side takes de-oxygenated blood that has been through the heart, and pumps it out into the lungs.
Therefore, right-sided heart disease means the lungs do not receive sufficient fresh blood to re-oxygenate according to Medical News Today. This could also lead to respiratory or cardiac arrest. Nearly half the 121 ventilated patients in the study died because of Covid-19.
“If you’re pumping blood to the lungs and the lungs become very sick,” the lead author explains. “Then you have an additional problem because the lungs are not willing to receive the blood that comes through.”
Pfizer Warns of Constant Waves of COVID-19 Following
The research team conducted their study from September 2020 to March 2021 at the height of the pandemic. Therefore the full effect of the vaccination program was not yet evident. But the Scottish researchers hoped to help improve future care and outcomes for those most at risk from the virus.
Pfizer chief executive Albert Bourla warned Financial Times of constant COVID waves on May 25, 2022. He added “growing complacency about Covid-19 and politicization of the pandemic response will cost lives globally. What worries me is the complacency,” he fretted. “The consequences could be seen in three to six months,” he fears.
His warning coincided with a new wave reaching 100,000 cases daily in United States. Centers for Disease Prevention there confirmed this. However, their spokesperson added “The seven-day average of daily deaths has fallen below one-tenth of its January 2021 peak” according to the report in Financial Times. That’s evidence vaccines do work.
